Day Eighteen

Today, our school organized a one day trip for us. The trip included going to visit Wuhan University for the cherry blossom, visiting the food street, and going to the DongHu Park.
We learnt why China actually has cherry blossom. Back in the war when the Japanese occupied China, the Japanese actually planted their first batch of cherry blossom in Wuhan. To the Chinese, the first batch of cherry blossom represents humiliation to them as it represents the failure to protect their country. In 1972, the Japanese wants to show sincerity to China, so they sent their second batch of cherry blossom, which is 1000 of it. In Wuhan University, we were told that there are 50 of cherry blossom planted there. Every ten years, the Japanese will send a few hundred plants of cherry blossom to China to maintain the relationship between China and Japan. The cherry blossom that we saw had two colors; the white one, and the pinkish white. To most of us, it is our first time seeing cherry blossom in our life. It’s nice to say that we don’t have to go Japan to see cherry blossom. We can actually see it here.

After visiting the cherry blossom garden, we made our trip to the food street which is half an hour bus journey from the garden. The street had many various types of dishes. The nicest and what I liked is the chicken wings. They called it the pervert chicken. Pervert represents Extreme in term of the Chinese word. So, we actually had the chicken wings and can’t really take it all. It’s too hot.

During the journey to DongHu Park, we saw Yellow crane Tower (黄鹤楼). This building was actually built in few hundred years ago. However, after so many years, it was destroyed by man made. It was then rebuilt in 1985 and opened to public users. This building was mentioned in the poem which our famous poet; Li Bai created.

In DongHu park, we went to play slides. We paid for 20 Yuan for the entrance fee for the slides. Then, we went for a ride on a boat. These activities are very relaxing and we were very happy with the day trip.
